Fit for the taste of any premium jet-setter, the new Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse lounge in Los Angeles International Airport incorporates clever design and outstanding aesthetics, welcoming and offering its frequent flyers the comfort and style they deserve.
The 370sqm lounge is renovated in alliance with the latest trends in architecture to achieve the most out of the space along with communicating the brand values and ideology. The £2.5 million Clubhouse greets its visitors in a spacious reception area encapsulated by a white rippling wall punctuated by curving copper forms. Contrasting to the white background, a lady in a striking and elegant Vivien Westwood-designed bright-red uniform welcomes visitors of the lounge, providing that branded, exclusive experience from the very entrance. The modernist reception area acts as a portal to the lounge area, offering just a slight sneak into the lounge, providing privacy and seclusion to the guests.
The Architects behind this impressive redesign – Hayes and James Slade from Slade Architecture, have purposely cut the rectangular space through its diagonal, making the venue look larger. Tons of natural light stream through the vast window, offering exciting views of the busy LAX runway.
A unique feature of this Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse is the flowing lines of the sofas, tables and chairs, creating a natural, organic feel to the space. The warm, pastel colours of the furniture transform the space into a peaceful landscape scene, where premium fliers can escape the hassle and stress of the airport.
The main objective of the interior designers was to infuse the space with the Virgin Atlantic brand identity while not having any logo on obvious display. The lounge was created to give a sense of place, a feature neglected from many of the airport lounges around the world. The Slade duo strategically infused the space with details to offer guest unique experience before departure.
