An actress, screen-writer and interior designer, Meredith Baer has worked in the field of staging interiors for event and sales for some of the most luxurious properties in California, New York, Florida and Connecticut. Her client list circles within the A-list crowd, including favourites such as Brad Pitt and Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow to name a few.
Her talent for interior design and skilful staging techniques has seen many properties go over half a million dollars above asking price. She has encountered occasions that the client falls in love with the staging redesign of their property and decides to keep the space and take it off the market. Recently, this was the case with Scarlett Johansson’s home. The renowned actress was amazed by the end results and changed her mind for selling. In an interview for Architectural Digest, Meridith shares:
“She ended up taking her flat off the market and buying a bunch of furniture from us.”
With such a high profile experience and knowledge for interior design, you bet Meridith Baer’s home can serve as an inspiration for all of us. The actress designed her Los Angeles crib following a set of décor rules, which can easily define any space. She has given purpose to all her rooms – whether a room should serve as a family retreat, formal dining, breakfast nook, home office, etc. This has helped her give each room its own, unique identity, which cohesively bonds with the rest of the house. She uses carpets and rugs to further define separate areas within a larger space like the living room.
Baer’s other motto is to build everything around a focal point – a useful way to draw the attention away from any unattractive part of the space. She uses as a focal point the fireplace or the windows towards the beautiful garden of the property. This lets the good vibe into the room, creating an ambiance of positive energy and aesthetical setting.
Her use of lighter colours in the furniture, walls and decoration brighten up the space, creating the fresh look of the interior. Cushions, rugs and throws in earthy colours and a few bright accessories cheer up every room of the house making it a true interior design masterpiece.
